When this homeowner called us, their yard had turned into a small swamp every time it rained. Water was pooling at the top of the property and running straight toward the home, leaving the grass soggy and the soil washed out. After years of frustration, they needed a long-term drainage fix — not just a quick patch.
Our team came out to assess the property and map how the water naturally moved across the yard. Understanding water flow and redirecting it properly is a skill we’ve mastered over 25 years in the business. Once we identified the problem areas, we designed a new French drain system to collect and redirect runoff efficiently.
The first step was trenching and laying out the new drain line. We installed dual pipes with a proper slope, wrapped them in fabric to prevent clogs, and filled the trenches with clean gravel for maximum drainage. Up top, we repaired the problem area where water had been collecting, creating a smooth grade so rainwater would naturally flow toward the new system.
At the lower end of the yard, we added a diffuser and outlet system to safely release the water away from the property. Once everything was tested, we backfilled, compacted, and covered the area with straw to stabilize the soil and promote quick grass regrowth.
The result? A yard that stays dry — even after a heavy Tennessee rain.
